COMM150 Introduction to Public Speaking College Dual Enrollment Students will explore the essential principles of sound public speaking.   The focus is directed toward critical thinking skills as they apply to the three fundamental components of public speaking:  speaker, audience, and message.  These will be studied within a distinctly Christian framework wherein the basic skills of preparation and delivery are tailored to help Christians communicate in an effective, appropriate, and ethical way. Grades 11 and 12 (Credits 3) *This course may be taken for high school credit only.

COMM101 Media, Technology and Society College Dual Enrollment (Elective) Students will examine the ways in which believers will recognize and embrace God’s story in media and culture, resulting in a deeper relationship with God. Students will develop critical thinking skills as they consider the role of technology on our culture and world view. Grades 11 and 12 (Credits 3) *This course may be taken for high school credit only.

COMM 110 Art & Culture College Dual Enrollment (Elective) Through an analysis of different artistic mediums, students will learn how the arts have shaped culture throughout history. The course will focus on the power of the arts to communicate and foster societal change. Prerequisite: ENGL-101 or the equivalent. (Credits 3) *This course may be taken for high school credit only.

COMM 202 Interpersonal Communication College Dual Enrollment (Elective) Designed to increase understanding and implementation of effective interpersonal communication behaviors and skills, the course includes an examination of basic verbal and nonverbal elements affecting communication between individuals in family, peer group, and work contexts. Social and psychological forces operating in human communication will also be studied as well as the important distinction between social skills/manners and the interpersonal communication skills developed in this course.  Prerequisite: ENGL101 or the equivalent.  (Credits 3) *This course may be taken for high school credit only.
